Notes from Classmates

  • From Nancy Neal Isaacs – Hello all —
I was in the BHS class of 1974 but left school in my junior year and graduated the next year while living in South Korea with my husband, Fred Isaacs, another BHS graduate. I thought I’d send a note to bring anyone interested up-to-date.

Fred and I have been married almost 52 years, have three children and eight grandchildren. Fred served in the U.S. Army after we married and that is what took us to South Korea for 1-1/2 years in the mid-1970s. One of our two daughters was adopted while we lived there. After the military, we focused on education — I graduated from Indiana University and have an MA in Theology and an MBA. Fred graduated from Notre Dame law school and job offers took us to Oregon. We settled in Lake Oswego, where we raised our children.

After spending 26 years as the judicial assistant to two senior judges on the U.S. Court of Appeals in Portland, I retired. I taught a university course on world religions and another class with Fred at our church for ten of the 34 years we lived in Oregon.

When our kids were grown and moved out, Fred accepted a position as a business law professor at a local university and we opened a successful boutique law firm.

Years later, we decided to sell our home so we could live and work overseas. Fred accepted a position as the dean of an American style law school in Almaty, Kazakhstan where we lived for three years. He was then offered a position as a justice on the Supreme Court of Palau, where we currently reside.  We have the opportunity of traveling throughout the Pacific islands and come back to the US often for judicial conferences and visiting family.

Unfortunately, the timing of the 50th reunion conflicts with other travel we will be doing. However, we send our regards and hope for a great turnout.

From Bruce Irwin  – Libby Roark Johnston has been my only remaining classmate contact. I did see the list of attendees & am excited to get reacquainted with numerous familiar names. I’m hoping that you are now retired & enjoying life. As for myself, I retired 2 years ago from Northrop Grumman where I was employed as a technical writer & illustrator. I’m married & have a daughter & son (no grandkids yet). I graduated from Arizona State University in ‘78 and have lived in Southern California for the past 45 years. The last time i was in Brownsburg was in 2010 when my mom passed away. Check out my website of my art: www.bruceirwinpaintings.com

From Marsha Dunne-Weddle – One special memory of our 1974 senior class dinner was that I was one of 4 nominees for Class Clown (I didn’t think anyone knew who I was). Must have been my dry sense of humor. I didn’t win the Class Clown nomination but was very surprised ! Marsha

————————————————From Mark Tunny – Wish we could be there. Tell everyone hi for me.
